Happy Birthday Daddy B!

Tomorrow is my husband's birthday.  When it comes to birthday presents, my husband and I have very different ideas about what gifts are the best.  I don't like to get gifts that I "need" because those would be things I would end up buying anyway!  I like to get gifts that I "want" and do not normally get to spend money on.  I usually like to get clothes or gift certificates for a mani/pedi.

My husband on the other hand only likes to get practical things for his birthday, items that he already needs.  He used to be a chef, so he likes to get chef's knives, or nice pots and pans, or other kitchen gadgets.  He also likes to get theological books that he can read to help further his education.  If we need something for the house, he likes to say, "You can give me that for my birthday."

So this year, he especially wants to save money for his birthday, since we are now a one-income family.  We are cancelling our gym membership and getting an elliptical.  He wants a really nice one that will last a long time.  Even though it is something we are both going to use, he wants this to be his birthday present (and our Christmas presents to each other.)  I am fine with making sacrifices on gift giving to be able to stay home with my son, so I'm trying not to let this bother me too much.

Since I am not really getting him of monetary value for his birthday, I am going to do my best to have the house completely clean when he gets home from work today.  If Baby W is cooperating and I work diligently, I think this is something I can do.  He would probably appreciate this more than any other gift anyway.  So, wish me luck...I'll let you know how it goes later :)

Onto my husband...Happy Birthday! I know you are not excited about starting your last year in the 20s, but you are living an amazing life with lots to look forward to.  You have accomplished so much in the 29 years you have lived so far.  You have met so many of your goals, and you are always setting new ones.  You always want to live better and be a better person than you already are.  You are an amazing father and an amazing husband.  I love you and cannot wait to spend the next 29+ years with you!
