HTT: New Year Project (and family Christmas pics!)

Link up with Shannon and Daphne!

Our FROG (Finished Room Over Garage) is going to be our remodel project for the new year! I am hoping it will be checked off the list by the end of February if not sooner!  Right now it stays cold and houses stuff we aren't using at the moment (including our Elliptical)!  When it's done...the elliptical will be in use, and I should have a workspace for my etsy shop!

As you can see, it is filled with lots of stuff that we could be using!  There are two desks, a loveseat (to the left), a chair and a half with ottoman (to the right), a twin bed in the back, a bookshelf, the elliptical, a tv and tv stand (in the front right...not visible in the picture), and plenty of other stuff that needs to find a proper storage home!  I'm hoping we get this thing knocked out soon!

More Christmas!

We went to the Christmas Eve service at our church this year.  Usually we rush off to either my family or our in-laws after the service, but this year we decided to stay home!  Little Man was able to play downstairs during the service.

We mainly used the video camera on Christmas morning, but I did get a picture of the aftermath.  Santa brought Little Man lots of books, a toy helicopter, a chalkboard with letters and numbers, racecars that spin, and a few other things!  He had lots of fun seeing his new toys!

We also had a surprise visit from the in-laws!  They showed up 5 minutes before we went in to get Little Man and shared in his Christmas morning experience!

Once we were packed, we headed to Charlotte to spend time with my family.
Here we are with sisters 3, 4, and 5!

Getting a family Christmas card picture on Christmas Day (better late than never!)

The six sisters:
#5, #1, #2
#4, #3, #6

This is my parents after they opened the present the mister and I gave them.
It's a painting of their house.  They moved in May 1990, and are set on moving sometime in the near future.  So this will be a reminder of our old house! (maybe they'll stay there awhile longer though!)

Later Christmas night...the snow began to fall!!
More snow pictures tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday y'all!!

Home Tour Tuesday: All Wrapped Up!

Link up with Shannon and Daphne!

I'm not a huge fan of wrapping!  I do like for the presents to look neat though, and if the present resembles a box shape in any form, I will use wrapping paper.  Any other oddly shaped gifts will instantly be bagged!

My favorite gifts to receive are the sentimental ones that you don't really expect...and while I can't think of any of those right now, I am going to go with our Wii!! My parents gave us a Wii a few years ago, and it has definitely had lots of use!! We go through phases where we will play it every single day for a couple of months, and then not use it at all for awhile...but we have definitely gotten our my parents' money's worth out of it!! Our favorite games are Wii Sports, Wii Resort, and Tiger Woods Golf...well, the Golf is the mister's fave, and it's funny to hear him talk.  "Oh, I'm playing in a tournament tonight and I've already made $5.2 million this year!"  If only it were real money....

My favorite gifts to give are the one's to needy people in our community.  The past few years we have taken lots of food and clothes to a family with 5 kids.  One was a student of mine.  He was definitely one of the best students I have ever had, and he truly appreciates the gifts.  I know that he wishes that he didn't have to receive them in this way, but he will probably grow up to be a billionaire due to his intelligence and perseverance!  Since I'm not teaching this year, no one has contacted me about giving to his family, but we will probably make an after-Christmas run once the Christmas food stash has dwindled!

Here's a pic of Little Man who just loves to hold all of his stuffed animals at once!

Happy Tuesday! I seriously can't believe Christmas is in four days! Oh my goodness!

Home Tour Tuesday!

I had a crazy busy week last week, and blogging was not at the top of my priority list!  So I am playing catch-up today.  I guess it works out for me because today's post is about trimming the tree and showcasing sentimental ornaments, and we left the ornaments packed up this year so that Little Man wouldn't break any.  We also put our small tree on the porch this year as you'll see in the pictures!  These are most of our decorations...some are still packed away, but I'm still in the Christmas spirit!!

 Our dining room table centerpiece

The mantle...excuse all of the "stuff" on the mantle...we had to move stuff up there from the floor because of Little Man!

Our stockings...a present from GiGi last year!

Little Man's Stocking!

It's hard to tell, but there are colored lights inside of the wine bottle.  This was a gift from my parents a few years ago!! I love it :)  And a great easy idea to make as a gift for a friend!

Our fridge...beginning to fill up with Christmas cards!

This is where we put the Christmas cards that don't have pictures :)

Our new wreath!  The Santa was hand-knit!  We bid on it as part of a silent auction, and all of the proceeds went to Hospice Care.

I will change the tag later to read Little Man's name!

Our Christmas tree on the front porch...the mister decided to use some of the glass balls to decorate since we didn't get our personal ornaments out this year.  But we have had a lot of wind, and it has blown over a couple of times with many ornaments breaking!  Not too smart on the mister's part!  (Now he has 50 pound weights holding it down!)

Happy Tuesday Y'all!

Little Man's Newest Trick and Home Tour Tuesday

He loves to open the drawer under the oven and climb on in!
He does have a hard time getting out though.

The place I go to relax is my bed!
This is normally where you will find me while Little Man is napping!
Yes, I was too lazy to move my sock out of the way and clean up the bedside tables :)

Home Tour Tuesday!

I am linking up for the first time for Home Tour Tuesday!  Please join in on the fun!

Well...now that I have taken my pictures, I am just going to go with them :)  When I took them, in my mind I was thinking of two of my favorite items in the house, but when I went back and looked, it's actually two things you are thankful for (besides spouse and kids).

You might not think those would be that different...but for me they are.

Here are two of my favorite items in my house:

This is a painting that used to hang in my "Mimi and Pop's" (my dad's parents) house.  It hung right at the end of their kitchen table.  I have always liked it because it just reminds me of their house.  They had a small "farm" behind their house with chickens, horses, goats, and peacocks.  When my grandfather passed away in August of 2008, I asked if I could have that picture to hang in my house.  I was told that one of my uncle's girlfriend's had painted it awhile back and that made me laugh, but it will always be sentimental to me.  I love knowing that I have a piece of art that will always remind me of my loving grandparents!

This cross also hangs in our kitchen.  It was a wedding present from one of my mom's friends.  I love that it is a cross and I love the Bible verse.  It is a great daily reminder of our purpose!

After writing, I realize that I am very thankful for these two things.  Had I chosen something else, I may have taken a picture of my pantry because I'm thankful for food, and a picture of my bed because I LOVE going to sleep at night in my comfy bed!!

Happy Tuesday!
